Installation Requirements for TPS/G and TPS/T Combined Seals
Seal Structure
- TPS/T (3-piece set): 1 fabric-reinforced rubber main seal ring + 2 POM retainer/support rings (one on each side)
- TPS/G (5-piece set): 1 NBR rubber center ring + 2 thermoplastic support rings + 2 POM guide rings (on the outermost side)
Pre-installation Preparation
- Confirm Model and Direction: TPS is a piston seal (bore seal) used for double-acting hydraulic cylinder pistons and bidirectional pressure bearing. The protrusion/tip lip of the main seal ring faces the oil chamber (high-pressure side); the retainer/guide rings at both ends face outward.
- Cleaning and Inspection: The piston groove and cylinder inner wall shall be free of burrs, sharp edges, rust and iron chips; the groove entrance must have a 15°～30° chamfer/R0.5～1 fillet. Clean with lint-free cloth + special cleaning agent; cotton yarn is strictly prohibited.
- Lubrication Requirements: All seals and groove surfaces shall be lightly coated with hydraulic oil/silicone grease compatible with the medium. Prohibited: Vaseline, ordinary grease, grease containing solid particles.
- Tools and Environment: Special tools: guide sleeve/taper sleeve, pressure ring, plastic crowbar; screwdrivers, sharp-nose pliers and hammers are strictly prohibited from directly contacting the seal. Environment: clean and dust-free, temperature 15～35℃.
Installation Sequence
TPS/T (3-piece set):
- First, place one POM retainer ring flat into one side of the groove
- Install the middle fabric-reinforced main seal ring: expand evenly (expansion amount ≤5%), no sharp folding or twisting. Put into the groove, the tip lip faces the pressure chamber
- Install the other POM retainer ring, fit closely with the main seal ring without gaps or skewness
TPS/G (5-piece set):
From the inner side (oil chamber side) to the outer side of the groove, in order:
- Inner POM guide ring
- Inner thermoplastic support ring
- NBR center seal ring
- Outer thermoplastic support ring
- Outer POM guide ring
Assembly into Cylinder
- The cylinder mouth must have a sufficiently long chamfer/guide sleeve; if no chamfer, use special installation taper sleeve
- The outer circle of the seal is evenly oiled to avoid dry friction
- Push the piston horizontally, coaxially and slowly, apply force evenly
- If the piston has threads/splines, it must be wrapped with a protective sleeve before being put into the cylinder
